A. Water Fantaseas, Inc. is pleased to provide the following sample itineraries and excursions as a base to begin planning your own charter from. Please note that these are not “group trips” or cruises that you can purchase individual tickets for, rather they are ideas, suggestions and samples of what you can do and where you can go when you charter a private yacht from A. Water Fantaseas, Inc.
THE LOWER KEYS
(3 days, 2 nights) ::
|
Depart from the dock at 8 or 9 AM and cruise southward. South of Government
Cut (the main ship channel in Miami Beach) we veer farther offshore
to avoid the shallows off Fisher Island, Virginia Key and Key Biscayne.
After we`ve passed the skeleton tower of Fowley Rocks lighthouse, we
enter a waterway known as Hawk Channel. Semi-protected by the world`s
second longest barrier reef (only Australia`s is longer), this is a
not-quite-inside-passage that is yet not fully offshore. Consequently, Hawk
Channel will generally have calm to moderate seas even when the open ocean
is rough. This trip covers the maximum mileage that`s practical for a single
day`s cruise to a destination in the Keys (hence the earlier departure for
convenient mid-afternoon arrival).
The destination is Little Palm Island, which is truly unique in many
ways. For starters, it is the only resort in the entire Florida Keys that
is not directly accessible from the overseas highway. For visitors who don`t
come via their own private yacht (whether owned or chartered) there is launch
service. But you can`t get there by car. And then, unlike other resorts in the
Keys, which boast an almost unlimited slate of potential activities, at
Little Palm Island there`s almost nothing to do. There`s no TV on the
island, no radios, telephone service is limited, and the shore side
accommodations don`t even have radios! There are no nightclubs or Tiki bars. But
there is some absolutely elegant dining (among the very best anywhere in this
hemisphere) and a more than ample opportunity to rest and unwind. At Little
Palm Island, you truly get away from it all!
There`s also (as with other Keys destinations) plenty of reef activity nearby
including some spectacular SCUBA diving (for those who are certified) on nearby
Looe Key and the fairly new artificial reef a sunken 200-foot ship, the
Adolphus Busch Sr, which lies in about 100 feet of water between Looe Key
and American Shoal.
Little Palm Island is also a more expensive destination. But if you
really want to "recharge your batteries" by going to the most isolated locale
you reach by a day trip from Miami, this is THE place!
*Can be extended to a more leisurely 4 Day 3 Night or 5 Day 4 Night trip by
stopping at one of the other wonderful destinations we offer along the way.
